Download & Installation Instructions

The university build of Shadows of Vahlvadell is provided above (click on the mask) as a compressed (.zip) file, packaged to under 1GB for accessibility (1.7GB for Linux).

Thank you for taking the time to test the project.

Windows

To install and run the project:

1. Download the .zip file to your computer.

2. Extract the contents to a location of your choice (for example, your Desktop or Documents folder).

3. Open the extracted folder.

4. Locate the .exe file inside.

5. Double-click the .exe file to launch the game.

No additional installation is required.

Linux

To install and run the project:

1. Download the .zip file to your computer.

2. Extract the contents to a location of your choice (for example, your Desktop or Documents folder).

3. Open the extracted folder in the terminal.

4. Locate the Vahlvadell.sh file.

5. In the terminal, run the following command:
   
    

No additional installation is required.

If you encounter the "Permission denied" error, make sure you've made you Vahlvadell.sh file executable with:

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during extraction or launch, please ensure your antivirus software has not blocked the executable, and confirm that all extracted files remain in the same folder directory.

If you are having trouble hosting or connecting to your friend's game, then please follow these steps.

1. Make sure that all players are connected to Steam BEFORE launching the game. A connection to Steam's API needs to be pre-established before connectivity becomes possible.

2. Your firewall may be blocking you from playing, as it doesn't recognise the publisher - us!

3. Make sure your using the same version of the game. If one of you downloaded the game on a different date, it is possible you have mismatching versions, and they are incompatible. The current version will be displayed here, and all versions post v1.0.1 will display which version you're using on the launch screen.
